.Call of Duty Modern Warfare Launch 2019

I know what I'm good at and I know who to call when I feel I won't be good enough.
Enter Maria McDonald of Sugar Duckie Cake Designs. We were asked to make cupcakes and something sculptural for the 2019 launch of Call of Duty, "along the lines of what you did last year".
Last year I could do... this year I knew that Maria would make something phenomenal if asked. So I asked her! She made this fabulous bust of Captain Price. He is edible as he is made of rice crispie treats and modelling chocolate but I imagine he will live out his days in Ruth's office.
I love working with clients who trust me and love working with other cake makers, especially when they are as talented as my mate.

Charlene & Brendan - Horror, ish, Wedding Cake

So, Charlene is a friend who I know through the Lighthouse Cinema She married the gorgeous Brendan last month and I was asked to make their cake.

They are huge movie fans and HUGE horror fans. The front, patterned part is actually a copy of the wallpaper from their Living Room. They also have an antelope head, sculpture on the wall and it’s draped in fairy lights. It’s ALSO the carpet in The Shining. Shudder. The back, now I kinda lost the run of myself … the idea was that the back would be white, traditional, but slashed. I kinda really went to town on the blood. As for the fabulous heart on top, it had to be human. It was made by one of the best cake makers I know. Philip Mullen of Kickshaw Cakes I knew he would make something awesome and he did. Hand on human, bleeding, heart it’s one of my favourite cakes. Ever.

The cake, by the way, is a 10" chocolate biscuit cake, 8" ginger, date and lemon and a 6" zesty lemon cake.

The heart is made from a mixture of modelling paste and chocolate. The blood? That’s coloured piping gel.

The Invisible Man Cake - Cakenstein's Monsters Collaboration

My piece of the Cakenstein Monsters Cake Collaboration. You can see him and his pals at the Lighthouse Cinema this weekend. You can also scare yourself further by watching one of the many horror movies they are showing!

Riona Marie - Christening Cake

I was delighted to be asked to make this cake by Deidre. We had made a baby shower cake for her a few months back, we didn't know whether it was a boy or a girl ... and it was a girl. The cake is an 8" zesty lemon and everything is edible and handmade.

Alice in Wonderland cupcakes

I loved making these. A selection of cupcakes based on characters from Alice in Wonderland.  The cupcakes are salted caramel.
