Alan - Brennans Bread Retirement Cake

Therese asked that I make a vanilla and raspberry life-size replica pan for Alan's retirement do. The cake, it is a cake, is approx. 11" long x 6" high and 5" deep and everything is edible. I have a new favourite.

Prendo - School Principal Retirement Cake

Stephen retired as Principal from my son's old primary school on Friday. I was asked to make this 10" chocolate biscuit cake, by the P.A., as a retirement gift. The brief was the school, the gates he stands at when the kids are going home, coffee and croissants, his red captain's jacket and his newest golf club.

Devin's Mam's birthday retirement cake!

Devin orderd this 8" lemon and 6" chocolate fudge cake to help with his mam's recent celebrations. He wins all the awards for coolest/calmest customer ever btw. Mary, Devin's lovely wife, owner of Bakers&Cakers was also a legend ... and here's why.

Devn: Hi Niamh, Mary is on her way to collect the cake.
Me.: Cool, I may not be here as have to drop friend to the airport. Will only be 15 minutes but kids and husband there and the cake is set up and good to go.
Me..... walking into the house, EXACTLY 12 minutes after I left ...........SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM What the ARGH happened to the cake???? The eldest child, recently an adult, knocked it over and smashed in the side of it.
Me: HIDevintherehasbeenanaccidentwiththecakeIcanfixitwhat'shelatestIcandeliverittoyouthisafternoon? (quiet sob).
Devin: Hey, relax, it's only a cake. Don't stress it.
Ding Dong:
Mary: You okay?
Me: i'm going to kill him.
Mary: It's okay.

And, you know what? It was. Mary's calming influence (and Darren and Oscar being my cake mayhem assistants) meant that the cake was repaired and put back together within 40 minutes. Mary left with cake, having had an hour away from the baba and a cup of coffee and I had a cup of tea and a gin. The Mammy loved it.

Happy Retirement (cake)

This is an 8" Tiramisu (the cake version) cake made to celebrate Elena's dad (I really should have asked for his name ) this weekend. Elena wanted us to incorporate his grandson, love of golf and tennis and his car. I thought the baby would look cute in the sand bunker.as all kids love sand pits and that's basically what a bunker is, isn't it?

Stephen - Fire Engine Retirement Cake

Stephen retired from the service, he was stationed in Tara Street, last week. His gorgeous wife ordered this 10" carved chocolate fudge cake for him.
Despite having a gorgeous dress uniform he was happiest in his wet gear.
Cake was made by Bernie by the way. She is a legend at this type of thing.

Sudocrem Retirement Cake!!! Seriously!!

I got such a kick out of making this cake. Made for Diarmuid, who managed development of this wonder product, who is retiring tonight,
The cake stands 10" high and is made up of an 8" chocolate biscuit cake and an 8" carrot cake. He hails from Sligo, loves his family, travelling, tennis and the gym so a nod was given to these as well.

Frank - Hill Walking Birthday Cake

Frank loves many things but we decided to go with two. His love of hillwalking and cooking. This is a 10" chocolate biscuit cake topped with a 6" vanilla cake. Everything is handmade and edible . . .well, don't eat the fire.
